Dualist Tech: Geometry & Frame Details.
We sweat the details.
Designed and engineered in California, and produced in small batches in Taiwan. Hudski has sourced the highest-quality carbon and alloy factories, in the heart of the bicycle manufacturing world. Our bikes go through rigorous testing, alignment, and quality control before they even get to paint. We're confident that you will receive the highest quality bike you can buy.
ADJUSTABLE GEOMETRY
Both the front and rear center can be adjusted by moving a flip chip in the fork and the chain stay. You're able to fine-tune the steering, stability, and playfulness of the Dualist.
FORGED CLAMSHELL BOTTOM BRACKET
We call it the "clamshell". It's made of two forged pieces that are fixtured closed like two sides of a shell and are welded down the middle. This achieves a number of useful things.
- smooth dropper cable routing through this intersection of five tubes
- sculpted chain stays that maximize tire-to-chainring clearance
- clean internally routed brake and shift cables
- extremely strong bottom bracket
GEOMETRY MATTERS
We started with an idea based on personal experience, leveraged the concepts of bicycle dynamics, formed hypotheses, made prototypes, made more prototypes, tested those hypotheses in our environment, came to conclusions, and then fine-tuned the details.
What was created from this pseudoscientific method was a bike that had never been made before. A lightweight frame and fork, non-suspension-corrected, with big tire clearance, that behaves like a mountain bike but has the efficiency of a performance road bike. It's a magic combination that is hard to describe and best experienced.
The special sauce is the long reach paired with a short stem, slack head tube angle, long trail number, wide bars, and a short axle-to-crown (AC) fork. The short AC non-suspension-corrected fork is important because we found it reduced wheel flop normally found with long trail (short offset) forks.
To add to the versatility of the bike we added adjustable chain stay length and fork offset. The chain stay can be 435mm long or 450mm long. The result is two distinct feels: with the short chain stay, the front wheel comes up easier and the bike turns faster, while the long chain stay feels more planted and turns slower. The fork also has offset adjustment between 44mm and 54mm. 44mm will give you a longer trail number resulting in a more self-centering front wheel, while the 54mm offset will give you a more "gravel bike" feeling front end and faster steering. Every combination is worth trying, to feel how each setting changes the ride.
